Compensation & Benefits Overview:

Our Expert Mural Painters are paid at from a range of $45.00 – 52.50/hour based upon level of skill and experience.

The Role

To be eligible for the Expert Mural Painter position at Colossal Media you must have previous experience painting advertisements, preferably 5 years minimum, in the Out Of Home industry. This position is for mural painters with several years of experience working with oil-based enamels and brushes at a large scale. Expert Mural Painters must also be able to provide a valid driver’s license and successfully complete an OSHA 30-Hour Construction course prior to any assignments. Painters who do not have this experience but who are interested in joining our Paint team should apply for our Paint Apprentice openings.

At no point is a painter “overqualified” for a production task, in addition to painting, we rely on each other to teach subsequent generations of wall dogs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Fill the position of Foreperson as defined by our R1 responsibilities. This applies to job site management, leadership, and safety
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of technical rigging process as defined by NYC DOB.
  • Ability to teach technical rigging and processes.
  • Paint and coating blending, mixing, applying. and cleaning, measuring protocols, job site organization, packing and shipping of gear, pattern training, pouncing, artwork acetate, rigging support, amongst others.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting in the field and on job sites.
  • Responsible for safely working with a team.
  • Ability to teach and support in workshops/non-media training when applicable.
  • Be on-site and/or on-call during scheduled times, this may include working nights/weekends.

Requirements:

The Basics:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Previous experience working at heights above ground level preferred, but not required
  • Extensive experience working with bulletin enamels medium and brushes
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Adaptable, persistent, positive, and focused
  • A good alarm clock
  • Availability to travel up to 1 week per month
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The primary work environment for this position is outdoors, requiring the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and climb to heights over 200 ft.
  • The physical demands for this position include heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds), extensive bending, pushing, reaching, seeing (with a focus on reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision), sitting less than 50% of the time, standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, driving, and climbing.
  • Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 25%
  • On-call shifts may be required.
  • This position requires long hours on your feet.
  • Working overtime/staying late is common.
  • Overnight shifts may be required.
